Richard Young’s Pret a Photo
30 November – 22 December 2012
The Richard Young Gallery announces Pret a Photo, an exhibition of ‘ready to buy’ photography from the glamorous archive of Richard Young – the celebrity photographer Kate Moss affectionately calls, “Uncle Richard”. Having taken over two million photographs over the last 4 decades, Pret a Photo will present exclusive, never-before-seen images from the 1970s and 1980s that have only recently been unearthed.
“The Seventies and Eighties represent the best era in celebrity photography. Fashion powerhouses – Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior started to throw the most fantastic parties. Champagne was always flowing, canapés were endless, and parties lasted into all hours of the night. Celebrities were happy to let their guard down and this made for fabulous photographs.”
Richard Young’s limited edition collections of both colour and black & white photographs, include many of the iconic images seen on ‘Celebrity Exposed’ the four-part Sky Arts documentary series aired earlier this year. Each exclusive photograph is personally signed, stamped and numbered by Richard and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
Celebrities within the exhibition include Bob Marley, Jack Nicholson, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Freddie Mercury, Muhammad Ali, Yves Saint Laurent, Serge Gainsbourg, Marvin Gaye, Amy Winehouse, Kate Moss and Johnny Depp – to name but a few! Additionally, an exclusive selection of Richard’s non-celebrity, reportage photography will be on display allowing the viewer to gain a greater perspective into the world of Richard Young, the photographer.
Photographs range from 10”x8” to 30”x40” in size, are offered either framed or unframed and will be available to take from the gallery the same day of purchase. Free gift-wrapping will also be available. Prices range from £75 to £5,000.
