Robin Bell celebrates 30 years of black and white printing with an exhibition at the Richard Young Gallery in London throughout November 2009.The show will be accompanied by a catalogue published by Dewi Lewis Publishing. An introduction by David Litchfield, renowned author and founder of Ritz Newspaper and Image Magazine, contextualises Robin’s career through the 4 decades up until today and helps the understanding of black and white printing’s important role in the visual Arts past and present. This retrospective illustrates Robin’s passion for the silver gelatin print and his anecdotal captions reveal a personal insight into his life and career. All one hundred and twenty images, selected and printed by Robin, are described as some of the favourite or most memorable photographs he’s printed over the years, each with a personal slant. The photographers include the likes of Don McCullin, Lee Miller, Ernst Haas, Terence Donovan, Tom Stoddart, John Swannell, Ian Berry, Britta Jaschinski, Steven Berkoff, Nurit Yardeni, Simon Roberts, Bryan Adams , Kevin Cummins, Michael Birt, Eve Arnold, Patrick Lichfield, Linda McCartney, Terry O’Neill, Norman Parkinson and Snowdon.
